Can you use copper peptides with kojic acid?
The chemistry
Kojic acid works partly by chelating copper in the tyrosinase enzyme (Saeedi 2019). Copper peptides (GHK-Cu) deliver copper bound to a small peptide (Pickart 2015; Pickart 2018). Mixing them in one layer could, in theory, let kojic acid pull copper from the peptide. That has not been tested in skin, and the clinical significance is unknown, but applying them at different times is an easy way to avoid the question. Kojic acid in the evening and copper peptides in the morning, or the reverse, is a practical split.
Chelation
Kojic acid binds copper; separate the two.
Split
Copper peptides morning, kojic acid night, or vice versa.
Evidence
The interaction is theoretical.
Common mistakes
Brightening and anti-ageing are often combined; this pairing is a reasonable choice if separated. Watch for irritation from kojic acid, which is more likely than from copper peptides. Use sunscreen daily, since neither offers UV protection. Some formulas combine several brightening agents, which could include kojic acid; check the ingredient list before layering your copper serum on top. GHK-Cu is used in tiny amounts, and its copper is fairly tightly bound, so in practice the interaction may be minor. Still, chelating agents such as kojic acid exist precisely to grab metals, and separating them costs nothing. If you use a vitamin C serum too, place it in the morning with sunscreen and move copper peptides to the evening, with kojic acid on alternate evenings. Introduce one new product at a time, with two weeks between, so a reaction can be traced. People with darker skin tones often use kojic acid for post-acne marks; for them irritation control matters most, and copper peptides are a gentle extra rather than a key step. Take photos every month in the same light to judge change.

Go slower if
Stop kojic acid if a rash develops.
Evidence strength
Limited to moderate for copper peptides (Pickart 2015; Pickart 2018). Moderate for kojic acid (Saeedi 2019; Zilles 2022; Nakagawa 1995). The interaction is theoretical.

Do they react?
Kojic acid binds copper, so possibly.
Can I use both at night?
Separate them by an hour or use alternate nights.
Which is better for spots?
Kojic acid.
Which for firmness?
Copper peptides, modestly.
Do I need sunscreen?
Yes.
Will kojic acid strip copper from my serum?
Possibly in one layer; the evidence is theoretical.
