How long should you wait between Retinol and Sunscreen?

Does It Mix engine · wait time

No special wait is needed. Apply Retinol first, give it a minute to absorb, then the other.

The routine

  1. Apply Retinol as directed (if it is a night-time active, use it in the PM).
  2. In the morning, finish your routine with a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher as the last skincare step.
  3. Reapply every two hours when outdoors.

FAQ

Does waiting 20 or 30 minutes between products help?

We haven't found good evidence that a set wait of many minutes changes how most skincare works. The practical reason to pause is letting each layer absorb so the next one doesn't pill or sting.
